Two years ago, I had the time of my life attending the Sirha Lyon Expo and covering the prestigious Pastry World Cup and Bocuse d’Or. As I wrote back then, I decided to attend Sirha Lyon pretty much at the last minute, an extraordinary move on my part (I usually plan well in advance) I had been thinking of special ways to mark my 10 years of blogging, and Sirha Lyon seemed to showcase this celebratory spirit to perfection. I traveled to Lyon and for almost a week I marveled at the extraordinary magnitude of the Expo and its myriad of gastronomic delights. I reviewed the Sirha Lyon Expo here, the Pastry World Cup here, and the Bocuse d’Ore here, and I also gave an interview to the ForkYeahFoodies Instagram community, detailing my experience.

You may remember me traveling to New Orleans last summer to observe and review the American selections for the Pastry World Cup and the Bocuse d’Or. I was there to root for Chef Stefani de Palma and Commis Bradley Waddle as they secured first place for USA, and the chance to travel to Lyon this January and to make history.

A new edition of Sirha Lyon has just concluded, and I thought I should post an update. After two days of intense competition, Team France won the coveted Bocuse d’Or. They were joined on the podium by Team Denmark (2nd place) and Team Sweden (3rd place). After reaching 9th place in Lyon two years ago, Team USA placed 7th at this year’s edition. You can find the entire list of winners (including the special prizes) here. You are also welcome to check out the list of winners for the Pastry World Cup here (USA did not compete at this edition)

I applaud Chef Stefani de Palma and Commis Bradley Waddle for their amazing efforts to bring the Bocuse d’Or to the US. While they did not win, their dedication, expertise, and excellence shine brightly and inspire professional chefs and home cooks alike, myself included, on a very personal level. I look forward to traveling to New Orleans again in the summer of 2026 to attend the Americas selection for the 2027 edition of the event, due to take place in Lyon during the Sirha Expo (21 – 25 January 2027) Until then, I will continue to post updates pertaining to the continental selections as they unfold.
